In 1952, Dr. Kenneth Platt founded the Westminster Medical Clinic in an annex to the drug store at 72nd Avenue and Lowell Boulevard. Five years later, a new building was completed at 7401 Lowell Boulevard and the Westminster Medical Clinic served thousands of patients. Dr. Michael Archer joined the staff in 1981 and Dr. Scott Hammond came on board in 1985. In 1988, Dr. Platt sold the practice to Drs. Archer and Hammond. Dr. Jude Kirk joined the staff in 1993. The north office, Westmed Family HealthCare was opened in 1996, and Westminster Medical Clinic moved to the Sheridan location in 2001. Dr. Robin Smith joined WMC in 1997, Dr. Michael Cavanagh joined WFHC in 1998, and Dr. Clifton Etienne also joined WFHC in 2007. Currently both facilities are fully staffed and practicing Family Medicine.

Your health is important to us! We are Physicians and Physician Assistants who specialize in Family Medicine. The Physicians are board certified in the specialty of Family Medicine. This requires three years training after medical school in areas of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, surgery and other medical specialties. The Physician Assistants are also board certified. They are qualified to diagnose and treat common medical problems and work under direct physician supervision.

Dr. Hammond has been practicing in the Westminster area since 1979. He enjoys caring for patients of all ages. His medical philosophy centers on listening to his patients and trying to individualize medical care to their needs. His special interests focus on the Patient-Centered Medical Home, preventive medicine, travel medicine and pain management. His personal pursuits include all aspects of the Colorado outdoors.

Robin L. Smith, DO joined Westminster Medical Clinic in 1997. Dr. Smith is Board Certified in Family Practice. During her leisure time, Dr. Smith enjoys soccer, gardening, snowshoeing, hiking, camping, photography and home remodeling. She grew up in Littleton, Colorado but has traveled to Europe and spent time as an exchange student in Bangkok, Thailand.
Philosophy: "I am here to help my patients become healthier individuals physically and emotionally. I try to work with each person to build a partnership so that we may achieve our health goals together."

Tracy H. Saffer, MD bio.
Dr. Saffer is Board Certified in Family Practice and started practicing in the Denver Metro area in 1997 when she moved from Phoenix. Arizona. Dr. Saffer strongly believes that the purpose of medicine is to give excellent quality of care while maintaining the caring side of medicine. Dr. Saffer has regularly volunteered time to the community working with the 9 News Health Fair, the Jefferson Action Center and monthly at the Samaritan House Homeless Shelter. When not working, Dr. Saffer enjoys traveling, spending time with family, martial arts and sports.

Sarah Goff graduated from Marquette University Physician Assistant Program, in Milwaukee, WI in May of 2007. She is originally from Appleton, WI and after completing PA school headed out west to explore all the mountains have to offer.
Sarah has particular interest in Women's Health, as well as, preventative care with re-establishing the diabetes clinic and group visits. Sarah has been working with Westminster Medical Clinic since Feb 2008. Sarah's goal as a Physician Assistant is to take the needed time to get to know her patients and provide them with the tools they need to live a happy and healthy life.

The Distributed Ambulatory Research in Therapeutics Network (DARTNet) is a research network under the direction of the University of Colorado, Department of Family Medicine and their partners that study the efficacy and safety of medications and therapies. WMC is one of selected clinics around the country that participate in this research.
Colorado Center for Chronic Care Innovation:
This is a non-profit healthcare foundation created by Dr. Hammond and dedicated to the advancement of primary care practice while simultaneously reaching out to patients in physical, social and economic need. Dr. Robin Smith serves on the Board of Directors.

Directions: The office is located on Turnpike Drive, just east of Sheridan Boulevard, south of 88th Avenue. We are west of the Boulder Turnpike, next to the La Quinta Inn.

*After-Hours: We have weekend office hours for Urgent Care. One of our two offices will be open. Please contact us for further information and appointments. Emergency calls are handled immediately, routine calls are returned later in the day or possibly the following day. If a nurse returns your call, please be assured that they are speaking on our behalf with specific instructions for you. After regular clinic hours, our answering service will take your call, and will forward your name and phone number to the Physician or Physician Assistant on call.
